My book was published in December 2018. Is there anything that has not changed? Let's take a look. Updates #1 (December 20, 2018) and #2 (January 22, 2019) cover earlier changes.
With my updates below, the numbers correspond to page numbers in the book.
Page 12: Wilbur Ross wanted to add citizenship question to the census. Federal judge said he acted in "bad faith", broke laws and violated constitutional issues. 2nd federal judge also nixed it. House Democrats set to question him about it. Hope he can stay awake.
Page 15: Kirstjen Nielsen keeps lying about caging separated immigrant children. No change in behavior but unlike Elaine Chao, who always has a grin on her face, Kirstjen is not looking like she is enjoying her job.
Page 16: Alexander Acosta was involved with the plea deal for pedophile and Grifter pal, Jeffery Epstein. Sentence Epstein received was equivalent to a nudge, a wink and a pat on the back. Why is Acosta still in his job? Because it is just pedophilia.
Page 24: Michael Flynn, identified as "Former National Security Advisor and Soon-to-Be prisoner," keeps avoiding sentencing. It was supposed to happen this week but once again his sentencing has been postponed. No date yet.
Page 25: John Kelly left. Thought we were done with him but he keeps popping back to try and salvage his shattered reputation. He's been making digs at the Grifter's racist immigration policy and the idea of a wall. No one is listening to you, John. The one thing Grifter asked you to do was fire Ivanka and Jared. Failure, failure, failure. Turn in those three stars, Lieutenant General.
Page 26: Brock Long, FEMA administrator, resigned supposedly to spend time with family. He said , Peter Gaynor, would be acting in his place and that we were in good hands. Good enough to toss paper towels like the Grifter?
Page 30: Ronny Jackson is a mystery. Is he or isn't he the Grifter's physician. It appears he is just one of the staff physicians. Grifter nominated him for a promotion in rank but Department of Defense has put that on hold. Seems there are some who put the brakes on our run-away clown car driver.
Page 31: Now you see him, now you don't. Still have not figured out when the legal screwball, Rudy G. appears.
Page 38: Bill Shine is out. Fox News bounced him. Grifter bounced him supposedly to help run his 2020 campaign. Doubt it.
Pages 40-45: Those bad seeds (Ivanka, Donnie, Jr., Eric and just for good measure, Jared) still prove the rotten apples do not fall far from the tree. Not talking about you, Tim Apple.
That's it for now; however, occasional updates will continue until the Grifter is finally ousted in some manner. I am sure there is more but how to keep up with the chaos?
Check out some of the reviews for When They Go Low, We Go Haiku, the "#1 New Release in Japanese poetry and haiku":
From BJ in Chicago (on Amazon.com): "I truly enjoyed this book....Although funny and even hilarious at times, truth in these senryus does not escape the reader. If you have followed the news since the election of Trump, you will find these little snippets both funny and true."
From Judith Podell (on Amazon.com): "This is brilliant and also funny, and also very very sad since it's facts, not fiction. Mary Steinberg distills daily bad news from the White House into seventeen syllables. She has been doing this practically every day since the Inauguration, which is an incredible feat, like squeezing an army of clowns into a mini-cooper. Speaking of clowns? Yup, all the usual suspects are included plus a few surprises."
From JLA (on Barnes & Noble): "A funny book -- and it makes a great gift! I gave this to all of my Resister friends at Christmas, and everyone loved it...the satire is spot-on. The book also includes some commentary that traces Trump's journey from president-elect to unindicted co-conspirator. As awful and depressing as the Trump administration is -- this book will make you smile if not laugh out loud."
From the Online Book Club: "Wisely, the author does not spell out the meaning of every direct and indirect point she makes through her poems. This demonstrates the author's trust in the reader’s intelligence. Steinberg’s opinionated aim is sure, and those with a greater understanding of the political context can recognize just how clever and cutting the author’s words are. This is an engaging and ironic poetry collection full of awareness, concern, and humor. The author’s writing style is smart and effective."
From Jim L (on Amazon.com): Are you a Resister who is sick and tired of Trump's corrupt administration? If so, then this book is for you!
From Alan B. (via the "Contact" form on this site, HERE): When They Go Low, We Go Haiku “is original, insightful and entertaining...and because of the updates online, it never gets stale. The man in the white house gives us a daily dose of outrageous, sometimes scary news that will keep me checking this site out quite often.”
Of course, Valentine's Day is coming up, so if you know a haiku lover in the Resistance, When They Go Low, We Go Haiku would make the perfect gift -- certainly better than expensive jewelry or chocolates!
